Thanks to the synergy between Sinergest For, the charitable arm of Sinergest, and the Lucca-based non-profit association Stella di Cuori, the project “Il sogno di Séraphine” (Séraphine’s dream) was born, a fundraiser aimed at building a well to provide access to drinking water for the entire population of Pagou, a village in Burkina Faso.
How did this project come about?
In Burkina Faso, there is a village called Pagou, near the town of Garango, where the population is forced to walk more than five kilometers to reach the nearest source of drinking water. In Pagou, people have no choice: poverty and water shortages are a constant emergency that causes fear every day and is the cause of great suffering.
Séraphine had a dream: to build a new well to bring drinking water to the women of her village.
Séraphine passed away on August 11, 2022. She was a very active woman in her community, generous and willing, respected by all. Séraphine was a woman who always thought of others, proud of her roots, eager to help the less fortunate, those left behind.
Her son, Nicholas Zare, a well-known personal trainer at the Genesi gym in Lucca, would like to fulfill her wish, to transform the suffering of many people into hope and thus make his mother happy, wherever she may be.
